Antique Reclaimed Wood by Allegheny WoodWorks

_Allegheny WoodWorks is in the business of keeping history alive. They offer wood that has been reclaimed from long-neglected barns and other wooden structures in Appalachia and painstakingly re-mill into the highest quality boards for antique flooring, custom cabinetry and vintage paneling & trim.  The company is dedicated to locating irreplaceable remnants of a bygone era and recapturing the intrinsic beauty that can only nature and time can manufacture.

Allegheny WoodWorks was founded on the principles of conservation, preservation and a belief that we all must play a part in the stewardship of our environment.  That is why all of their materials are made from resources that have been reclaimed and given new life and utility for our customers, or are made from materials harvested in a conscientious and sustainable manner.

                          Antique American Chestnut

                          Antique American Chestnut

An extinct species in North America due to an extreme blight at the turn of the century, Chestnut is highly desired for its incredibly rich brown tones, as well as its relative scarcity. Chestnut's coloring can range from light tans to a deep chocolate tone. Dating back to the days of the first settlers, Chestnut has been used in many applications, including logs in early structures, sheathing, as well as joists and beams. Our Chestnut flooring is available in a variety of styles, including a fully milled finish to a more rustic look with original saw marks. Post-blight Chestnut also often has a generous amount of worm holes that make its antique character practically irresistible.

                          Antique Heart Pine

                          Antique Heart Pine

Heart Pine is another species of wood that suffered near-extinction, in this case due to over-harvesting. We find our heart pine from the deep South to the industrial North. From huge factories and mills in the form of gigantic timbers to tobacco barns and old timber structures. Heart Pine may well be the most warm and inviting of all woods. Its deep orange patina makes for an exceptional and versatile floor - lending itself to formal or casual settings and everything in-between. We use heart pine to make beautiful floors, delightful paneling and woodwork and absolutely stunning cabinets.

                          Antique American Oak

Evocative of the strength and determination of the early American settlers, our Antique American Oak visually imparts those qualities in abundance. The fine grain, dark knots, checking and "flecking" visible from the vertical grain combine with a golden-coffee palette to produce a floor that is every bit as striking as it is durable. Our Antique American Oak flooring is a top selling product, and a staple of our Appalachian heritage - painstakingly reclaimed from barns and houses from the region.

                          Milled Barn Siding

                          Milled Barn Siding

Allegheny WoodWorks is completely devoted to saving as much beautiful wood throughout our country as it can. Nothing speaks more strongly to this mission than the flooring and paneling we create from reclaimed barn siding. These are boards that truly live on the endangered species list, with Allegheny WoodWorks striving to procure this fine wood before nature takes back its own. Many of these barns will not last any more timemuch longer due to lack of maintenance, we are able to create a product that is similar to our Original Patina Barn Siding in terms of character, with just slightly less emphasis on the rustic end of things.

                          Original Patina Barn Siding

History abounds as we leave as much of the original weathered patina as we possibly can when crafting this flooring, resulting in a truly unique flooring that shows raised grain, character marks and the weather of decades and even centuries in every board. If you are looking for a rustic masterpiece to finish your project, this is quite possibly the right floor for you.

A mixture of Hemlock, Heart Pine and Yellow Pines, our Antique Mixed Pines flooring defines the rustic warmth that our customers just can't help but love. Character lives in abundance in this flooring, with blackened nail holes, fine cracks, saw kerfs and strong grain patterns making our Antique Mixed Pines flooring a top choice for log cabins, timber frame homes and other "countrified" rustic applications.
